Guadalajaras a.k.a. the BEST turkey sandwich EVER!!

A national study on turkey consumption found: Nearly half of U.S. consumers eat turkey at least once every two weeks with more than a quarter eating turkey deli meat. It is no secret that I love a good turkey sandwich.  In fact one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving is all of the left over turkey to make sandwiches!  This is a recipe for my most favorite turkey sandwich, it has a truly unique blend of flavors that is delicious!  This is adapted from a recipe from a fancy restaurant my parents ate at years ago!
Guadalajara Turkey Sandwich
1 pound turkey (I like the thick cut roasted turkey, pictured is a Norbest Sweetheart roast)
Monterey Jack Cheese sliced (about 1/2 a pound)
Jellied Cranberry Sauce, sliced
7 0z can whole green chilies, rinsed
8 slices of bread (get a really nice variety like sour dough, or homemade bakery bread)
3 Tablespoons Mayo
1 Tablespoon Mustard
Butter for putting on the outside of bread

Heat skillet or frying pan to a nice medium/low heat.   Butter the outside of each piece of bread.  Mix the mayo and mustard together. To make the sandwich, on the inside of both slices of bread spread the mayo mustard sauce (if you are not a saucy person, you do not even need this).  On one slice of bread place cheese, opened chile pepper and turkey slices, on the other slice of bread place more cheese, cranberry sauce, and more turkey. Put the pieces together.  Grill Sandwich on medium low heat until the outside is golden brown, and the cheese is melted.  This sandwich is a little messy, but totally worth it!

Yum!  This is a great sandwich!   When I first told my hubby about this sandwich years ago, he was a little skeptical, about the flavors, but now even he is a believer!  What is your favorite turkey sandwich?

PS, it is getting dark here so early, sorry the quality of picture is not as good as usual! I was going to try to save a sandwich for the morning to take pictures of... like that happened, they were gobbled up fast!
I like to party at these lovely blogs!

Turkey Daze~A'Lil Country Sugar!

Turkey Daze at Ladybird Ln
I saw this recipe for Carmel Apple Turkey Panini, and instantly knew it would be something I would like!    I can not wait to try this recipe!  I was also so excited to find this blog, she has so many charming recipes and ideas, and I think we have a lot of common...

Carlee at Ladybird Ln asked me guest post at her blog. Bless her heart, this is my first guest post and I was full of questions. And I made sure she knows that I am a newbie to this kind of stuff.
What an honor for Carlee to invite me.
And I haven't even introduced myself yet.....My name is Angie Walker, and I have been a faithful food blogger since July of 2010 (A'lil Country Sugar). Blogging is an amazing world in itself. I had no idea that a hobby would become a full-time commitment. I'm sure you dedicated bloggers out there would agree with me.
Carlee is having Turkey days the whole month of November, and with her family being a sixth generation in farming I would say that is very appropriate, and in this world today, something to be very proud of.
She asked me to share with you my Caramel Apple Turkey Panini.
This panini was entered in a food challenge concerning caramel and apples, and it did very well. I was the only contestant out of 80+ to focus on a main meal item instead of a dessert item (yes, I thought outside the box).
Two of my favorite apples during apple season is the fuji apple and the honey crisp. Either one will work well on this sandwich.
Is there anything better than turkey,

caramel,

and apples.....

I don't think so!
Instead of typing out the recipe for this sandwich I will give you the directions to find it here.
Just to tell you a little bit about me, I like the simple things in life, and in food. I don't think you need all the fancy-smancy stuff for food to taste good. I was raised in the country and most of my foods represent that.
I live in a small community of less than 1,500. You know, one of those communities where everyone knows everyone, and everyone knows everyone's business.....fun times!! And if you want to know the latest gossip, just go to the local hair salon in town.
I have three wonderful grown children (25, 21, and 17). Okay, the 17 year old still needs a little work, but she's getting there. I am also the proud grandmother of two amazing grandchildren (Ashton 6 & Lydia 4).
I am a full-time college student working on my bachelor degree in supervision and leadership, and I am loving every minute of it. I have been attending college since January of 2009, and will be graduating in May of 2012. Don't know what I'm going to do once those apron strings are cut....kind of scared.
I volunteer as administrative assistant at my local United Methodist Church, and I manage a local business' social page (as a volunteer).
And last but not least, my job of 22 years went over-seas in 2009.
That is me in a nut-shell....
Thank you again Carlee for inviting me to your wonderful blog.

Thanks for stopping by Angie!  Please take a minute to go say hi to here at A'lil Country Sugar!  Also be sure to stop by and see all the fun projects, field trips, and recipes from TURKEY DAZE!

Turkey Daze! My Lil Pumpkin Patch's turkey decor!

Turkey Daze at Ladybird Ln
I am so excited to introduce Stephanie and My Li'l Pumpkin Patch... this blog is always a favorite at the Weekend Show Off Parties, I really love her style!
____________________________________________________
Hey Ladybird Ln readers!  I am so excited to be here guest posting for Turkey Daze!  My name is Stephanie, and I blog over at My Li'l Pumpkin Patch.  I love to create and love to be frugal, and that's basically what my blog is about!

Today, I am going to show you my Turkey decor that I recently made.  I have had this project sitting in my craft closet for about 2 years, so I was so happy to have some motivation to finally finish it!

My mom actually bought the kit for me, so everything was pre-cut and sanded (bonus!).  All I did was paint and mod podge.  It was super easy, and shouldn't have taken me so long to finish!
I chose some coordinating scrapbook paper to add a fun pattern to the turkey and the wings.  I cut each piece slightly smaller than the wood and mod podged them on.
Then, I figured out my layout, and screwed the wings to the head, using my handy dandy drill.
A couple pieces of wood split, so thankfully, I had some brackets leftover from another project that fixed the mistake.  If I did this again, I would drill holes first so the wood doesn't split.
Doesn't the back look so pretty? Just kidding.
I decided to use some jute twine to hang it up with, so I screwed in some screws in the yellow and orange wings, and tied the twine around them, and hot glued the ends down to keep them from poking out of the side.  I also hot glued on the beak, gobbler and buttons for eyes.
I am really happy with how Tom turned out, and I am so excited to finally have him hanging on my wall!

Hope everyone has a Happy Turkey Day!!!

Thanks Stephanie, that is such a cute little turkey!!  Please take a minute to visit her fun blog, My Li'l Pumpkin Patch!
