A Popcorn Ball that smelled so Sweet!

I just love gooey treats!  My family has been watching The Waltons series, during these long winter months... Have you ever noticed they stopped making television shows the whole family enjoys?  Anyway, on one of the episodes Momma Walton makes Popcorn Balls with her kids, my kids thought we should make some as well!  So here it is, I am sure that is Momma Walton approved!

 

Popcorn Balls

Ingredients:

3/4 cup light corn syrup 1/4 cup margarine 2 teaspoons cold water 1 teaspoon vanilla

1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar 1 1/2 cup marshmallows ½ teaspoon salt Red cinnamon gummy candy 18 cups plain popped popcorn

Directions:

1.	In a large bowl, mix the plain popcorn and the red cinnamon gummy candy, set aside. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the corn syrup, margarine, cold water, confectioners' sugar, salt, and marshmallows. Heat and stir until the mixture comes to a boil. Add vanilla. Carefully combine the hot mixture with the popcorn, coating each kernel.
2.	Grease hands with vegetable shortening and quickly shape the coated popcorn into balls before it cools. Wrap with cellophane or plastic wrap and store at room temperature. Find the largest bowl you can... trust me!
