Weekend Show Off Party

Welcome to the Weekend Friends!
Ladybird Ln
I hope your weekend is getting off to a great start.
We are busy starting our home addition! I thought it would be fun to share pictures of the progress we make each week at the party..... so even if your not terribly interested, please humor me!

This was last weekend.. we tore off back porch area, and had a dream...

This is during the week! My kids loved watching the huge back hoe!

This is today (Thursday), basement dug, footings in place.
It still does not seem like reality, my hubby says it will hit when the first bill comes... typical Male!

Enough about me, here are a couple spectacular projects from last week.

Wow Shop with Pippa went back to school shopping for $80, don't they look stylish!

Six Sisters Stuff have my mouth watering with the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Cookies!

And the blog of the week is lucky linky number 85!
Shabby Gals shared made over a Craig's List rocking chair,  I think it is so bright and fun!

I can't wait to see what you have been up to!

Gee I really Love You... Handmade Fabulous Wedding Open House!

As you all know, my adorable sister Alyssa got married this past July!  Her new in-laws threw the happy couple an Open House in their backyard to celebrate the occasion.

It was a great evening with food, family, and fun!

The decorations were all handmade and fabulous!  Her cute sister-in-law Stacy made darling pennants to decorate the yard.  They were made out of lace, a linen fabric, and berry material!  The yard was also dotted with Chinese lanterns!

The lace really adds, don't you think?

And if that was not cute enough she made a little pennant for the card table!  She found the little case at JoAnne's!

For the tables, they arranged flowers in mason jars and had a small mason jar with a floating candle.

They purchased the flowers at various grocery stores around town, and made them into beautiful arrangements.

Every table was different and unique, and you would have NEVER guessed these flowers were purchased from the grocery store!

What would a party be without food! They served cookies, fruit, and ice cream with all the toppings you could stand!

I think I might be the only grown up who still loves gummy bears in my ice cream...

Don't they make a great couple!

Crazy, Busy, but so SO exciting NEWS!

If you have been following Ladybird Ln  for any amount of time, you know I love my little house.

The house was built in 1914, it has a simple arts and crafts design, and is right in the middle of a large acre lot.  The only problem is we are growing out of it.

Our family of five is a little cramped in the two bedroom one bathroom home, so we have been looking at our options, which are basically add on, move into a bigger home, or build a home.

After much time thinking about this, we have decided to add on... in a big way!  We will take off the really bad back porch addition (built in 1934) and add on to the original home. We will be adding on a Master Bedroom (with a bathroom and walk in closet... SQUEAL), two bedrooms, a family room, a bathroom in the basement... Re-adding our laundry room and mudroom. And a PANTRY... I am a very visual person so I am adding a picture of our floor plan so you can see what I mean.

Here is the plan for the main level

Here is the plan for the basement!

This was hubby and I's master bedroom... yup it might be the size of your walk in closet! This was part of the bad back porch addition, so it is now torn off... we are sleeping in the family room for the time being!

Here is the view of the back porch before!

The back porch walls were filled with adobe bricks... like were you would think insulation should be, they were HEAVY! So grateful for hubby, my brothers and Dad for helping us out!

See Ya Later Porch!

Bad back porch.... Gone, I have wondered why we didn't do this years ago! It is kind of fun having a back patio, now all we need to do is strike up the band and have a dance party in our back yard!

I will have to remember the beauty of my yard in the spring, while I am cramped up in our house during the remodeling process...

Yup that is our bed in the living room!

So we might have some fun decorating posts in the future here at Ladybird LN, and I can't wait!!

I like to LINK to these parties!

Weekend Show Off Party...

Whatever possessed me to try to do a complete blog redesign the week before school starts, is beyond me!

I have a few improvements made, but still along way to go, and for some reason nothing is aligning correctly, and it is driving me crazy! If you have any tips please let me know! Just know this is a work in progress:)

I am so excited to see what you have been up to, I missed you last week!

Ten Minute Block Quilt

I know I have been slacking on blogging lately sorry, this summer is running out, and I am way to into the Olympics to blog at night!

I wanted to share the quilt I made for my little sister for her wedding!  This quilt looks very impressive, but it is extremely easy sew.  You create each ten minute block with only three seams-- pretty cool.

I learned how to make this quilt from a fan class I took from Shannon, at a local quilt retreat sponsored by Pie Plate Patterns!

Another great feature is this is a FREE pattern! You can watch the above You Tube video, and you can print off a .PDF version HERE! Also, another plus, you can use a Moda Layer Cake, so you don't have to cut out any squares.  The design for this quilt is from Moda's Strawberry Field's Collection!

The final result is just cute!  My sister has a thing for Berries,  I hope she will enjoy this quilt for a long time!
