Christmas Gift Idea under $5~ DVD Art Case, with Mod Podge!

 

 I love to make homemade gifts for Christmas... for just about everyone!  With the help of Mod Podge, this year I made my nieces fun art cases, by upcycling old DVD Cases.  This is a simple gift to make that won't break the bank... In fact I don't think I spent more than $2 on the whole thing!

Items Needed:
Original Mod Podge
Sparkle Mod Podge
Mod Podge Circular Roller
Scrapbook Paper
Old DVD Case
Colored Pencils (I bought mine in the fall for 50 cents)
Podgeable Shapes (Optional, I used mine for an embellishment)

 Step 1 Make a Cover: Using Scrapbook paper I had on hand, I made a cover.  I used the old DVD cover as a template. I laid out the design of each of the covers, and simply used just a little big of original Mod Podge on the back of each shape to stick them down.

Step 2 Make Pencil Holder:  To make a pencil holder for the inside of your DVD case all I did was cut the colored pencil box in half.  Then I brushed a little Mod Podge on the back of the scrapbook paper and elements to keep them in place, and embellished it.

 

Step 3 Make Notepad: Using the inside of your DVD case as a guide make a notebook. I simply cut printer paper in the desired size, placed it in a card stock cover and stapled it together.  I also put sheets of stickers in between the pages, because everyone loves stickers.

 

Okay just a recap, you should have your DVD cover, pencil holder and notepad complete, it is simple right?  Now onto my favorite step....

Using Mod Podge circular roller and SPARKLE Mod Podge cover your DVD case cover, pencil holder, and notebook cover. This will help your project elements stay together and give your project plenty of sparkly goodness, without the mess of glitter.  Seriously Sparkle Mod Podge is my new best friend!

Now all you need to do is let the Mod Podge dry and put it together.  I used a hot glue gun to secure the notebook and pencil case in the DVD case.

 

 There you have it a fun inexpensive gift, that anyone can make! I can not wait to see what my nieces think of them!
