Best EVER Peanut Butter Cookies

There is nothing better than Peanut Butter... and Chocolate! This is a family favorite recipe, that is simple prepare, makes enough for a crowd, and they just always turn out pretty! You can make them for any holiday by using seasonal M&M's.  You know this recipe HAS to be good because it made it into my Little Black Book of Recipes!

Last week we made these cookies for the fire fighters that are working TIRELESSLY, on the fires around my little valley. These are fire fighters from around my state (Utah) and even country. These men and women are away from their family and friends, and are literally sleeping in tents around the local Jr. High. If that that's not a hero I don't know what is! The kids and I had so much fun baking these cookies for them!

Best Peanut Butter Cookies
Source: Betty Wilcox; Boehme Baking Bible

Mix in a LARGE bowl:
2 cups shortening (can substitute one cup butter, 1 cup
                                               shortening)
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups sugar
2 cups peanut butter (creamy or chunky)

Add: 4 eggs

Stir in:
5 cups Flour
3 tsp soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt

Add Chocolate M&M’s (about 2 cups)

Bake 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

This recipe makes a ton!  I usually freeze half of the dough, or give them to friends.

As you can see, this makes a pretty stiff dough.
I love the way they look when they are done, far better than the average peanut butter cookie!

We also decided to make another batch for the Cookie of the Month Club for my kids awesome Grandpa's!

I like to LINK at these great parties!
