Protect your Dining Room Table from.... LIFE!

The dining room table is without a doubt the center of our home.  It is where we eat our meals, do homework, pay bills, it also doubles as my sewing table, craft table, and computer desk.

I love our dining room table it is one of the first pieces of furniture my husband and I purchased together. I have protected the top of my table by buying clear vinyl by the yard and placing it over my table.  This has protected my table but I did not like how it hung over the sides. The kids would spill milk inevitably, and it would run down the sides, and be hard to clean.

Then one day at a friends house I noticed she did the same thing only she tucked her vinyl under the table and secured it with flat head tacks...  GENIUS! The best part of it is, the only items you need are, clear vinyl (I buy mine cut by the yard, at Walmart) and flat head tacks.

Start at one corner of your table fold a small amount (about an inch) of vinyl under your table, and secure with tacks.  I tacked about every 8 inches.

I folded the corner of the tables kind of like a birthday present and tacked securely.
Make sure to keep tension as you tack around the table, so you don't have an excess of vinyl.
For less then ten dollars I was able to protect our table from... life!  I think it looks great, and I like that you can still see the pretty lines of our table!

  1. Amazing Idea... honestly the first thing I saw were those awesome floors, not knowing that you just posted about them. Was too nervous to write on a post about a clever table cover about how much I love the floors. Forgive me?
