Welcome to the Weekend!
I have so many EXCITING things happening on this blog this month... First off, in case you missed it I am celebrating turkey all month long.... being a third generation turkey farmer I have the right! Check out Turkey Daze!
I saw this funny on facebook, and had to share! My sentiments exactly!
Also do not forget about our Crafting for a Cause this month, it is a simple project with a big impact!
As if that were not enough, I am in the final three of SYTYC, you have until 9 pm (Friday) tonight to vote for your favorite!I just love having a blog of the week... I choose a blog randomly at the party, and I have met some interesting and fun blogs. This week I am featuring a blog that is passionate about the art of sewing, and have even created a course you can purchase to learn how to sew.
Hello Ladybird Lane Readers! Thank you so much for having us. Once I found out about blog hops and how fun they are, I’ve been following Carlee and linking up on a regular basis on behalf of Modesty Matters. It’s only been about 8 weeks, though, so I am (we are) super excited to be here! I think I have told just about everyone I know…LOL!
(If you'd like to put faces with the names, please click HERE to see photos of us.)
We are a two-family small business all about teaching sewing & home-economics with modesty in mind. I am wife to an incredible man who is my best friend, a stay-at-home, home-schooling mother of our four amazing children which include an 11 year old, a 9 year old and twin 5 year olds, and I work the business (Modesty Matters) from home. I am a tad bit busy, but I must like it that way b/c I’m always taking on new tasks rather than relaxing or catching up. Dee, my partner in crime (so-to-speak) is a stay-at-home, homeschooling mother of 8 beautiful children…yes, e i g h t. She is happily married to her best friend as well and they just celebrated 20 years! We are all God’s children and grateful for His love, grace, and provision.
For the business, I am the video director, producer, and editor. I also author most of our written work. The blog and the website are additionally my responsibility. Thankfully, we have just outsourced marketing and I couldn’t be happier to have that off of my plate and in competent hands! Dee is the creative juice behind most of the projects. She is our designer, pattern creator, and teacher. We both LOVE what we do!!!
In my free time (ROTFL), I love to sew, take photos, create cards, scrapbook, crochet, and read. I love creating an easier or better way of doing things. Most of my crafty posts came to me out of my immediate needs at that time. Dee…well, Dee doesn’t have any free time; yet, she still finds a moment here and there to express her creativity. She is the oboist on our videos, can play guitar and piano, crochets, sews, cans…you name it, and she can probably do it! Her mind is constantly conjuring up great ideas in which we try, together, to simplify and share using one form of media or another.
Small projects are photo journals with instructions. Larger projects are taught, step-by-step, on video. Our mantra is “You CAN Sew!” and we try to ensure your success regardless of your personal experience. Some of our favorite photo journal ideas have been posted on our blog, such as:
DIY Key Fobs
DIY Nursing Bra
…and…
The Zippered Storage Pouch
(We SHOW you how to insert a zipper!)
Swing by the blog for lots of fun & free ideas, and when you need a serious or specific pattern, come directly to our website.
Not a confident sewer? We have the perfect fix for you! We’ve created a 12 week, self-paced, video curriculum to teach you how to sew beginning with the basics and advancing through to a solid intermediate level. You also get the text with illustrations and an extensive glossary to use as your personal learning scrapbook/journal.
