Welcome to the weekend! It is officially Friday.. as I write thhis at 1:17 in the morning... Do you ever feel like you live in a project, well this week I am! I will have so many fun posts to show off my midnight remodeling projects!
But for now, I want to see what you have been up to! Thank you so much for coming and joining our linky project! I am super excited to announce the blog of the week, Linda from Lemon Drop (I just love alliterations!)
Hello Everyone! So happy to be featured this week on Carlee's superb blog!
A little bit about me: I am a 40 (yes, I said it - 40!) year old mom of 3, a full-time IT project manager, a struggling Buddhist, a meditator, and avid reader (of cookbooks mostly). I also throw in a few weekly sessions of exercise too for good measure.
As if all of the above doesn't keep me busy enough, I am also a rather new "out-of- the- closet" foodie who cannot get enough of baking, food photography and blogging which when, all combined into one, form my blog Lemon Drop. I absolutely delight in the chance to express my love of food in this way.
Baking, photography and blogging are all superb outlets for my creativity which for some odd reason seems to continue to be greeting me in leaps and bounds on a daily basis. You would think I would be burned out but quite the contrary. After my work day I cannot wait to experiment with recipes, switching things up as I go along, with eager anticipation to see, taste and watch others enjoy the finished creations. In fact, some days I get up at 5 am just to bake. It is a wonderful way to center myself and kick starts my day!
And although it ignites further creativity, baking also calms the senses too. There is something meditative and zen-like that comes with immersing yourself in the art of baking. A form of mindful awareness takes over. The way the flour feels as you sift it through your fingers, the texture of dough during the butter "cutting-in" phase, the trance-like movements of rolling dough, the focus and precision required when icing dainty sugar cookies. All of it is art. All of it requires mindfulness. And for me, all of it is therapeutic and like a warm blanket and a hot chocolate on a cold winter day.
Lemon Drop was launched in January 2011 and is therefore just a blog baby. Named after U2's song Lemon ( I do believe I am their #1 fan and have been since my teens), she has become my pride and joy. She is a medium for me to express all that I can where baking, photography and blogging is concerned.
On a weekly basis you can expect to see blog posts containing recipes for endless baked goodies. Some of my favorites are: Glorious Cinnamon Twists, Decadent Sticky Chocolate Cinnamon Buns and Pastry Queen's Bacon, Cheddar and Chive Scones - just to name a few.
