Snickerdoodles, are my weakness. I just can't get enoug snickerdoodle (even if it is not chocolate!). A couple years a go I was on the 'quest' for the perfect snickerdoodle, and found this recipe at Allrecipes.com. It is full proof and delicious. I get so many compliments on them, and they are a great bargaining chip!
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
2. Cream together butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, the eggs and the vanilla. Blend in the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls.
3. Mix the 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon. Roll balls of dough in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
4.Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set but not too hard. Remove immediately from baking sheets.
Make sure you do not over bake! These are so yummy, I hope you enjoy!

I use the same recipe for my Snickerdoodles. They are super easy to freeze too! I like to triple or quadruple the recipe after the kids are in bed and then I'll turn on a movie and form them. I put them all on cookie sheets (close together so they are touching) and then put them in the freezer for a couple hours. When they are frozen I simply remove them from the cookie sheet and throw them in a big gallon sized freezer bag labeled with the baking instructions. It makes for a nice and easy after school snack for the kiddos.
