NO FUSS Granola

Yup you read the title correctly, this recipe is for NO FUSS granola... I have always wanted to make granola but have been dissuaded by the 'weird' ingredients. My friend gave me this oldy yet goodie granola recipe, and I LOVE it! There was only one ingredient (sunflower seeds) that I don't usually keep on hand, and it was super easy! This is a very flexible recipe, you can add and omit as desired!

Dry Ingredients

6 cups rolled oats (I used old fashioned)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup coconut
1/3 cup sesame seeds (I omitted this)
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
I cup chopped nuts
Dried fruit (optional)

Mix all ingredients except dry fruit. Stir in and coat thoroughly with"

Wet Ingredients
1/2 cup oil
1/3 cup honey
2 tsp vanilla

Spread on cookie sheet and bake at 350 degree for 25-30 minutes. Last five minutes add 1 cup raisins or other dried fruit. I baked mine for 15 minutes, then stirred the granola. I stirred again at 20 minutes, and 25. You have to watch it close or it will burn. Take the granola out once it looks golden brown, it will still be a little sticky.

This recipe is a keeper, and my family LOVES it! Even my sweet hubby who was a bit leery! He told me it was the most granola he had seen in his life! He didn't think we would eat it all....

Well I made it last week... and it is all gone. We ate with yogurt, as cereal, as a snack, gave some to friends! So yummy! FREEZER TIP: I did not freeze this (we ate it all) but I learned from two different sources you can freeze granola in a zip top bag, just try to remove all of the air.

  4. Megan, I am glad you guys liked it! That is so fun to have someone try it less then 24 hours after posting! Jocelyn, I am always amazed at how expensive granola is in the store, especially since it is mostly oatmeal!

  9. It looks so yummy! I am a HUGE granola fan, but the rest of my family hasn't seen the light yet...this recipe might be the one to sway them my way! And I think I already have all the ingredients in the house...that's always a plus! I came over from the Sunday Scoop link party.

  14. Great. I need to start making my own for my family to control the ingredients. Have you noticed quality and quantity going down, while price of granola goes up? Thank you for linking with Joy of Desserts, Carlee.
